Story

At The Village, more than anything else,
we want to invite you to discover a story with us.
We think that God’s story is worth knowing
and that Jesus’ story is worth following.

Why? When God’s story and your story connect, it’s amazing how much better the world becomes. The best way to discover this is to come by one of our Sunday Gatherings and see what our church community is like. We could tell you everything on this site, but we think the journey together is the best part.

A little history…

In 2012, a group of people began forming. It started with a family, then another, then another…and before you knew it, a bunch of us realized that we were feeling the same thing – we wanted to plant the Gospel story in our neighbourhoods and our cities and towns. So we met for a few Q&A nights, gathered in small groups, and discovered that there was a common theme in us. We wanted to plant a fresh expression of the Gospel in North Whitby. Our gatherings shared a few consistent characteristics: conversation, story, scripture, prayer and food. Over the spring and summer we held what we called ‘Soft Sundays’ – monthly gatherings where we’d learn from the scriptures, worship with music, share food and coffee. This affirmed in us a desire to do this more regularly. So after a summer of barbeques, small groups and social gatherings, we began to gather in a school library. This story has led us to going public with our church community…

And the story continues…

If you’re reading this, you can be part of us too…

You may be looking for a safe place to ask questions; a place to check out Jesus and the Scriptures. The Village is that kind of place. We hope that as we grow, everyone from anywhere, at any point in their journey will feel welcomed and embraced.

You may be a follower of Jesus and looking to be part of a community that keeps things simple. We want to gather together, grow together and go out to make a difference because of our faith in Jesus.

Maybe, just maybe, you have always wanted to do something that changes the world. The Village can be a community to connect to, serve with, and make a difference through.
